Why would you have a sequel to such a terrible terrible excuse of a campaign.

What are they going to add? More erotic tension between Dom and Marcus? Only thing they can do is try and improve the multiplayer.

Wow. Terrible erotic tension? Cynical much huh.gif

Anyways, *I'm* looking forward to this game. It's near the very top of my fave co-op game series.

I didn't know erotic was a synonym for campaign.

True, Isn't that what seperates the crossroads of a shooter and RPG? Shooters are less story telling and more about blowing/shooting stuff up. (fun me likes happy.gif )

I hope they do offer 4-5 player Co-Op so i can have Shauna and several other members in the online campaign mode. cool.gif

No. Half Life 2, Bioshock, Crysis, Metroid, Far Cry, Halo, and Modern Warfare all are FPS and they have great to good stories to go alongside their multiplayer.

Gears just has excuse plot. What makes it different then generic FPS #998? Great marketing.

Actually you have a good point. But True, if you don't like the series, why comment in the thread? I would have just ignored it.

Well, there's the fact that it's not an FPS....

I would suggest checking out the novels written by Karen Traviss. They are much, much better written than the first two games. Epic knows this and has gotten her to write this game.

Anyway, really looking forward to this. The first two are among my favorite 360 titles and I really like what we've heard about this one so far. smile.gif

Because I've played the first two games and can make a valid opinion. I'm sure people are allowed to give a negative critical assessment alongside positive ones.

Good point, it's a third person shooter. Replace my previous listed games with: Uncharted, Resident Evil, Max Payne, Grand Theft Auto, and Dead Space. Gears of War has one of the best MP for a 3rd person though so that's a plus.

I have to agree with True on the plot. Honestly, the first one's gameplay satisfied me. But I'm also a story person. The story didn't even start with how the whole war started between Locust and human. You only get to see E-Day happen if you leave the game on for a few minutes (brief cutscene).

But other than that, I'm honestly stumped. Now, I've read the books, searched through data on the interwebs. But there's still a large section missing in the plot-telling.

So hiring Karen Traviss to do some story-telling was a good idea. Because I still have a lot of questions that need to be answered.

Gears of War's MP is pretty much on my top 5 multiplayer game list.

I've always felt that the first Gears of War didn't really have a plot. There was a setting, some characters and some things you went after, but the story was basically "get from point A to point B" and the game itself was chiefly about the action. The trappings were just the backdrop for the action; most of the "story" was in the instruction manual and anything interesting came in the last ten minutes of the game. What little story there happened to be was simply all over the place; it felt more like an extended prequel that might introduce you to the universe.

The second one was better in this regard, but still needed some improvement.

I regard both games as fun action games. They're not the sort you shpuld really go to looking for a riveting plot. But the games have a way with keeping the action intense and they can be legitimately exciting.

My hope is that the third game won't make having read the books necessary. The franchises plot could always use fleshing out and holes could always use filling, but it's never a good thing when you can't get the full main story in the main media. Other than that, I just want the next Carmine to live; I was so pissed when Ben was offed.

That one was Anthony Carmine. Yeah, his death sucked. Didn't really have much time to get attached to him though, since he was offed halfway through the first chapter.

Ben's death stung more though; I liked the rookie and had legitimately hoped he'd make it.
