If you're like me, and enjoyed your long hours as Captain of the SSV Normandy, then you've most likely drooled buckets while waiting for info on this game. Why can't we just make one thread, and shove all this info into that very thread?
Well guys... here it is! The official H&E Mass Effect 2 thread, and I do hope you'll use it, even after the game has been released in early 2010. This is where we'll shove all the awesome Spectre-info down your throat, and eventually answer any questions you've been sitting there with since the first game.
-Did Shepard get laid more than once?
-Do they make Spectre-underwear?
-Why is it that these super agents can be Lucky Luke himself with two sets of firearms, but useless with the rest?
-What's up with the damned teaser trailer claiming our Shepard characters were killed in action when we weren't looking?
Alright, I'll admit some of these questions probably won't be answered that easily. The big question though, would be the last one. Didn't they tell us to keep our savefiles for the sequel? I've been playing through Mass Effect until I've perfected my Shepard, and now they'll kill him off when I can't even be there behind the controls? Oh snap, I'll have to open up a can of GethWhoop™ on their asses now!
Very little information has been released concerning the plot for Mass Effect 2. Casey Hudson, Project Director for BioWare, and Greg Zeschuk, BioWare co-founder, as well as various developers on the official Mass Effect message boards, have said that players should keep their Mass Effect save-files,[3][4] because decisions made by the player in the first game will continue to have influences on their character in the sequel.[5] Players who have not played the first Mass Effect will start a new character in Mass Effect 2, and will be brought up to speed on the story elements that have taken place thus far in the series. Hudson also states that characters from the previous game will come back, provided that they were not killed.[3] The first trailer for this game gives the impression that Commander Shepard has been killed in action.[6]
Mass Effect 2 will be darker than the first game, according to BioWare, stating that "Saren's evil army of Geth soldiers has just been defeated, and humans, who are still struggling to make their mark on the galactic stage, are now faced with an even greater peril".[7] A March 23, 2009 Amazon.com listing described the plotline of Mass Effect 2 as“ The second act of BioWare's epic sci-fi trilogy continues the story of Commander Shepard and humanity's first steps onto the galactic stage. The second chapter in the Mass Effect trilogy takes you to the darkest reaches of space, where you must uncover the mystery behind the disappearance of humans across many worlds. Prepare yourself for a suicide mission to save mankind. Travel the galaxy to assemble a team of soldiers and combat specialists, and launch an all-out assault on the heart of enemy territory.[8] ”
In a promotion trailer leading up to E3 2009 developers stated Mass Effect 2 would be the series' equivalent to Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, in the sense that the story will be considerably darker and more complex than the predecessor.
Now, I'm sure you've all seen this
And my personal favorite:
Whatever happens, I can't wait to play this game. Mass Effect stays one of my all time favorite games, even though my 360 kept killing itself in the most inapropriate times, which did take a good chunk out of the overall experience. Stupid Microsoft and their stupid red ring! :l
Oh yeah, Mass Effect 2..
Here's some Concept art!
