KPop
Not too long ago, I've basically known nothing about KPop safe for a few songs from Girl's Generation and BoA (she was singing a few Japanese anime endings and openings after all). It was only when my friends started talking about KPop (which made me feel like an idiot cause I was completely left in the dark about their chit chatter) that I've finally decided to explore that music genre that I was always so skeptical about. You don't hear many good about KPop after all from outsiders: Fake images, too much aegyo, plastic surgeries, horrible treatment from the companies, lawsuits b/c of unfair contracts, blablabla... And I still think that's true. BUT, I've come to see a new side from KPop I suppose, that made me realize one thing: Immense respect. Many of those stars have been undergoing years of intense training before their debut, meaning they've dedicated half of their life to become an idol. While the singers don't always get to shine with their singing in their songs, they can dance, which is prob my favorite aspect about KPop.
I'm still a noob, and don't really do this music genre justice b/c instead of exploring new songs, I watch variety shows many of the kpop stars are shown in. Pretty hilarious, and makes you realize how grounded to earth many idols are. With that being said, I'm still learning, lol. Learning the various terms related to KPop (maknae, aegyo, the visual of a group, etc), and songs that are considered classic milestones.
Discuss anything related about KPop in here.
Bands I'm currently into are Shinee, Infinite, and DBSK/TVXQ (soooo good). For girl bands: Mamamoo, and I guess SNSD.
And I know, tnot all the tags are not the greatest compliment for KPop from me, lol. But that's what I think of when the word KPop is mentioned.
