It sort of makes me realize that I really should be focusing more on studying for my engineering courses instead...

So how many words have you guys published? Enough to technically be a full-time author? haha

My word count is lower than I expected and then I realized that I removed a lot of my stories (both one-shots and multi-chapters) instead of keeping it around, so my word count isn't really accurate. =\

Well, I've been writing fanfiction for longer than a lot of you, I suspect (started in 1996, IIRC). Between what I have on FF.net and the things that have been erased off of ff.net (or other websites) for... whatever reason (like my entire collection Harry Potter fanfics, which I deleted after book 6 came out, out of disgust with how the series was going; or the two 100,000+ Ranma fanfics that ff.net deleted for censorship issues -- some people wonder why I am so careful about making sure Training for the Job meets that technically allowable standard; or a few fanfics which only ever appeared on an old mailing list and never were posted on the web (as far as I know, though if the archives of that list are still around I suppose copies may exist somewhere); etc.) I've written well over 1 million words of fanfiction... and I passed that million word mark before Training for the Job was even started, so it's been a lot. But that's over 13 (well, 12, really, since I haven't written\posted anything this year, yet) years of writing.

Of course, add in the million or so words I've done of original writing in that same span of time (which I've only recently started trying to publish, so far only through traditional\semi-traditional publishers) and that number jumps a lot higher, but we're only talking fanfiction, here....
