Okay, probably bad wording...best ninja? He had access to train with the best ninja in the world? Kakashi was said to be so good he mastered 1000 jutsu, was said to be as smart as shikamaru, have senses as good as Kiba, and more....and yet he never once utilized Kakashi's knowledge. He met and was godson to Jiraiya who was greater than Hokage level and had tons of skills. He met Killer Bee who was said to be powerful too and while he appeared as an idiot was actually an unorthodox ninja. He is genetically related to several ninja gods, and was even the reincarnation of one and ended up marrying back into his own family.
He was supposed to have the bloodline advantages of the Uzumaki, said to be one of the strongest clans in Konoha yet somehow got wiped out.
Of course, Naruto is not exactly "best student" either as he is stupid, lazy, and could not care less about what being a ninja is. He just want attention.
Going back, Naruto should have died at least several times in part 1. Naruto also should have lost in the chunnin exams twice.

Kishi is all talk and no showing
That reincarnation thing is still stupid and assine and makes no kittening sense.
Oh totally he should have lost

All because of Kurama's chakra being used as a deus ex machina crutch rather than something for Naruto to learn from and surpass.

It would have been a great final arc to pit Sasuke's prodigy abilities, bloodline powers, and pretty advanced life experiences against Naruto's massive power, sheer dumb luck, very limited life experiences. Because if Sasuke came back and wanted to be Kage, he'd have a pretty good shot at it. He's more like Minato than Naruto is. I can't imagine them sidelining Sasuke for the Kage position like they did to Naruto. Sasuke doesn't need a few more years to mature (or whatever the reason was for moving Kakashi in before Naruto).

And an arc that tested their life decisions — one who left and pursued his goal relentlessly vs. one who stayed and did what he could within the confines of other missions — would be really really good. Which one wins out? The one who chose revenge and grew by insane amounts? Or the one who stayed behind and really only got a power-up in whining about his lost teammate? lol

And this is why I wouldn't have minded if Sasuke became an antagonist after the whole Itachi ordeal, even if it was temporary.  So much wasted potential. But no, we get him being beaten into submission, essentially, just because he doesn't share the same view as Naruto.

In terms of many battles, it was either dumb luck, unpredictability, or something else that helped Naruto quite a bit in Part 1, James, like how he was panicked enough to fart when fighting Kiba, but also how in the fight, he used unpredictability to get the best of him at times, like tricking him with the Transformation Jutsu into thinking Kiba had kayoed Akamaru instead of Naruto, so he'd take Akamaru out of the fight. Or with Neji, how even when Naruto used Kurama's chakra to release his Tenketsu after Neji sealed them with the 8 Trigrams 64 Palms, that Naruto's tenacity and willingness to never give up helped him win when he tricked Neji with a Shadow Clone, and then broke his fingernails into the dirt to be able to win.

My big thing with this is that Neji actually berated Hayate Gekko for not calling the match after Naruto was knocked to the ground several times and should have been counted out. Like, they purposely refused to let Naruto lose by knock out or count out like how it should have did. That's my issue. So Neji takes one punch to the jaw and this makes me give up? However, Neji manhandles Naruto and they refused to call the match in Neji's favor?

Okay, it is a shonen and stupid stuff can happen, but Kishimoto could have written it any way he wanted and he made it so lazy. Toriyama did better in his martial arts tournaments. Naruto is a cheat and for a shonen I am okay with it, but truth is Naruto's plot device is stronger than even Batman's. Same with Sasuke. They were walking plot device so hard that. We knew exactly what was going to happen. What surprised us is how stupid it all happens. "Sasuke's lightning can disarmed Deidara's ground bombs." Ummm....how?

I mean, they introduce Naruto as someone being a public nuisance as a means to getting attention and that he wasn't quite as dumb as you would initially believe. Then Kishi proceeded to write Naruto as even dumber than we would initially believe, someone who wanted to be a great ninja but needed the very basics of his world explained to him. Then powerscaling went off the charts.

Agreed but better question how he got rid of the nanos in him when he was low on charka or how he summoned with next to no charka left and didn't kakashi say if you force a justu it doesn't work and drain you to zero meaning you die

Plague of Gripes showed this

Neji proved this by one question: "Oh so you think just anyone can be Hokage?"

Essentially, Neji basically asked why didn't anyone else be Hokage? Were they just too lazy? Did they not work hard enough? How many people tried and failed to be Hokage? Naruto was VERY wrong about something. He tried so hard to be Hokage so people will respect him and be popular; not understanding that you need to have people actually respect you and be popular to even be considered for Hokage.

Naruto is the epitome of a self-made hypocrite and that's the sad part about Naruto.

I liked gemna more he was voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch which is awesome.
Agreed plus seems neji was right in that fight it was destiny though I like it better when the characters rejects destiny like time force , sands of time, season 2 of yugioh gx did that better.
Plus with anyone able to be a ninja through tech while cool idea defeats the hard work view.

Basically, Naruto as a series became hypocritical of what it was and we only notice it because of how **** the ending was, and how **** Boruto has proven to be as well. It was fine before Shippuden went downhill, and some elements beforehand too. Personally, I feel the stuff that was done later on made things rougher, like the reincarnation crapola.

And let's not forget Naruto Nardo did not even work that hard to Hokage. Kakashi handed him the position because he got bored of it/didn't like the position anymore. Naruto's life goal was a cheating, freebie hand-me-down. and like I said, "the hard work to become hokage" part came from the mouth of "Naruto" who was one of if not THE biggest academic slacker of his generation. Reallly when you go back on it a lot of the so called themes and messages lose their charm and meaning .

and on the romance aspect, BECAUSE "first love" and because someone is "hot and sexy" is TRUE LOVE!!!!! BELIEVE IT!!!!!! :lmao:    :zaru: Sasuke is "hot and sexy". Hinata is "hot and sexy" (to her fanatics only). And also Sakura always loved Sasuke and Hinata always loved Naruto :th_yeah: :laughcry:

Kakashi was the seat-warmer.

It makes me wonder why, if for any reason at all, we loved the series in the first place. Naruto came out at the most opportune time when any anime in the states gained popularity, even the bad ones, but now times have changed and well the standards have become different.

Yet people still hold onto the idea that Naruto is a "good" story. Not because it actually is, but because of that nostalgia factor. The fact that most "fans" can't remember any of it just proves this. This is also why Boruto is failing because THAT series is in an era where the original fans grew up and are now watching better anime and the newest generations really don't give any kittens. Seriously, I conversed with kids of the latest generation and they are nowhere NEAR the fandoms are now. Barely anyone I know younger than me is into anime or games. It is a generation dark ages. (Yet, they think Rap music is the only "culture" that exists)

Now we have anime that actually have plot, characters, development, and love relationships that actually have meaning and purpose other than "this goes here. squirt."

Naruto is just....bad. It really is a bad story that had some good ideas and was blown apart by a fandom that care very little for anything else.

There's some good parts for sure, James, but it all gets overshadowed by all the bad. As I said, it was fine before a lot of the senseless crap that led to Naruto's demise as a franchise, and how that BS continues to be carried over into Boruto for no damn good raisins other than they don't give a flying **** anymore about it. Which is why Boruto is tanking badly besides those of us who grew up with Naruto moving onto better anime/manga. And the sad part is, Naruto as a series was fine before it got shifted like it did to make Shippuden, since that's where everything began to go downhill, especially when it came to the stuff after Pain/Nagato's defeat.

I think the worst part was that a lot of the good idea plots were abandoned with the most anti-climatic endings I have ever seen.

Naruto originally started out as this stupid, lazy, selfish brat looking for attention....which is fine, but the fact that he never changed from this. He was still a stupid, lazy, selfish, brat. He didn't learn anything and that is disappointing. No lesson was given because things just happened.

Not a single character learned anything. They all just blinded by egotistical nationalism that Naruto HAD to be right even if what he says was absolutely ridiculous.
