Man. It continues to blow my mind just how messed up the ending is. How little it makes sense character-wise, story-wise and just...basic storytelling-wise.
While I was in the shower (where all the best thinking is done) I was just reviewing how little sense the ending makes.
It's Naruto's story, he's the main character, his dreams and desires come first above all other characters. Unless the story's morale was 'you won't always get what you want', which is 100% is not. Yet Hinata's desires came first in the end. A side character that would not change the story at all if she never existed.
The story is about Naruto and Team 7. Allllll about them. Yet the ending tears them apart. How much sense the ending would make if Naruto and Sakura did get together? So much more. Plus Team 7 would have never parted.
I think it's safe to say that Sasuke was never going to live in the village at the end, no matter what. He was either not going to live there or die. That was pretty clear. I'd imagine if NaruSaku happened, we'd have the obvious couple, all of Naruto's dreams realized and Sasuke would be sending letters to both of them.
Not like it is now where he only sends letters to Naruto and doesn't communicate with Sakura, his supposed wife and his own CHILD, for 12 fuggin' years.
Sasuke would have either been alone or ended up with Karin. She doesn't live in the village and I feel like her Uzumaki blood was also going to be a way to tie the Uchiha and Uzumaki together. (I.E: The kinda but not really NaruSasu) To make Naruto and Sasuke real distant relatives. I feel like Salad's design contributes to this idea.
Sigh. Three years and still as salty as I was when the ending was revealed.

I know what you mean, Moon_Girl, and it annoys me for sure how things ended up because Kishimoto had no backbone. And it is really sad to me too how you bring up how things are now and how things wouldn't be as screwed up as they are if Kishi had kept to what he had written... T_T

I don't understand how SS/NH tears team seven apart in a way NS wouldn't. Your argument seems push for no pairings, which I would have been fine with.
As for SK, Sasuke still nearly killed her and left her to die. SK looks bad for the same reasons SS does. Also, you statement begs the question....did the Uzumaki and Uchiha really needed to be tied up in that way? I'm glad Kishimoto dropped the fact that Karin was an Uzumaki. We really didn't need to know anymore about them and, at best would have been an unnecessary tangent.

The thing is if you have to have anyone be the odd man out in team 7, it makes sense for it to be Sasuke. He's the one who is the loner anyway. It does the least damage. With NS ending you can assume that the NS bond would still exist since they would be married, instead of it being destroyed. So you lose this minutely improved SS bond and get to keep the strong NS bond. That keeps team 7 together more. I agree that Sakura would probably be reading the letters in this case. If SK doesn't also happen it would even be emphasized, since no one would be married to someone else as Naruto now is.
In regards to SK all I can really say is that Sasuke nearly killed Karin with the goal of killing someone else. When he nearly killed Sakura, it was with the goal of killing Sakura. Even if she attacked him, she was disabled and helpless to stop him at that point. Also he did other things to hurt Sakura. You can view both as being beyond the pale, but SS is pretty clearly worse.

Plus, since Karin could tell Sasuke's apology was legit given she is a sensor type, it feels more like that he was telling her the truth when we do NOT know if he really was when he apologized in the village before taking off again.

Of course. The anime team is twisting the three clowns collective arm this arc to make sure that everyone know the anime is canon and not filler. As for the outfit, if you're not going to show it I'll just assume for now that he made her a sexy sailor outfit.

In Kishi's mind : To make heroine popular or raise female character popularity , make her more beautiful / pretty.
In Ikemoto's mind : To make female character / heroine popular , i gotta make her look more sexy , give her more revealing outfit!!
They both share something in common : Female is all about physical appeal , as long as they pretty and look good , that's all that matter.

An out of control man needs a strong woman to control him.
And even a violent woman will become soft and tender to the man she love.

I believe it's a similar concept on dress wise. Just now no sleeves covering her legs. Also, it will please the fetish of school girl design, so there's that.

...Well the man at least gave her better hair then that mashed up train wreck she had before (by fixing her bangs, and softening out the rest of her hair)...she looks the least ninja-like out of the entire cast -even by Naruto standards ninja-. She literally looks & dresses like a Japanese school girl.

Thank you! I failed to communicate that. Currently, the team seven bond is like this:
Naruto <-> Sasuke
Sakura -> Sasuke (Honestly, the only <-> I've seen between them since the ending is when Sasuke called her his 'wife'. Pretty sad tbh. Even in Gaiden it was mostly Sasuke <-> Salad)
Naruto ??? Sakura Their bond, highlighted as at least the second most powerful bond in Team 7 throughout the whole manga, suddenly disappears. Like they were never close.
Like I mentioned before, even long before the manga ended, it was pretty obvious that Sasuke was not going to come back to the village in the end like nothing ever happened. He'd either live outside the village or die. Sasuke is the obvious choice to be the loner (Not a complete loner, obviously) because he pretty much always has been and it's very much within his character to do so. As we can see now, it's a very bad thing for him to be married to anyone inside the village since he leaves them behind.
Karin, for example, is not tied to any village and could travel with him easily. I don't know what the case would be with Salad, though. (Yes, I am a firm believer that Salad was supposed to be Karin's daughter. C'mon, neither Sasuke nor Sakura need glasses, so why would their child need them? Especially when they're Uchiha? I can understand a little if one had bad eye sight, but yeah...) Plus it'd probably be easier for Sasuke to visit the hideout. I could be wrong, though. I don't think we really know Sasuke's complete status with the village.
Or I could be completely wrong and Sasuke just doesn't marry or have kids with anyone. To be honest, that'd make perfect sense too.
Not everyone needs to be paired up.
In short, their bond wouldn't be as scattered as it is right now. There'd be a full triangle between them, while currently, we're missing a piece of that triangle. Naruto and Sakura's deep bond has been brushed under the rug. No doubt as a means to try and make it seem like Hinata is the most important woman of his life. And even then that's failed to be shown as he never wants to be home and doesn't even sleep in the same room, let alone bed, as her.

Yeah... If anything, the Saku <-> Sasu might actually work better if she married Naruto. He wouldn't feel pressured to do something that is out of his character, like touch her, so they might get along better than they do now... This sounds like a joke, but that really is the way things are. Sasuke is awkward around her and Sakura is just DESPERATE.
It's not at all appealing.

Was working on something for a project that's been a longtime coming, and while doing so I came across this, it was one of Kishi's early designs for Naruto.
Interesting, I can say that for sure.

Is it sad that this looks more appealing than the Boruto series? Maybe Naruto should have been more Punk ninjas instead of what we got. Might have made things more interesting.

Definitly, Especially now since Naruto is Hokage and doesn't even have tiem for his family let alone friends. He only keeps in touch with Shikamaru because they are co-workers.
This is even more proven fact by when Suigetsu asks him "Don't you know this?" and Naruto replies "How was I supposed to know?" Basically, Suigetsu hit Naruto with an armor pericing question in that he doesn't keep in contact with his friends anymore and Sasuke never talks to him about things outside of missions.
So, it is evident that Naruto doesn't talk to his "friends" anymore and that for 12 years he knew nothing about Sasuke and Sakura. How bad is that?

I would say that being around Sakura would hurt him, but he doesn't love Sakura anymore so he's just a scumbag.
