It was an excuse period. Any good writer would want or at least should want to write their female characters just as great as their male characters. Kishi just did not have the drive for it, plain straight. If he did Sakura's storyline and overall character would have turned out sooo much better.
Sakura created for became male otaku self insert character (Sasuke) waifu, her attitude toward Sasuke is what male otaku want for their gf. Thanks for otaku community dedication Naruto still profitable until now, Kishi just done what need to be done so his pocket still full of money despite he work less than before.
I believe Kishimoto at one point did indeed consider Sasuke and Hinata developing romantic at some point but that concept was later scrapped for an unknown reason in the manga before it's horrible conclusion... The filler movie (Road to Ninja) enabled me to speculate on how Kishimoto originally had plans for Sasuke and Hinata romance,
I know that some of you are not to fond of SasuHina but I kindly ask if you could read this theory and give a answer in response to it, who knows it may open you up to yet another interesting pairing such as the Yin and Yang concept :) Here is my theory:

Anyway, let’s begin. You will noticed some similarities with this post and The only difference is, I’ve added more info.
Before we get to the good stuff, if you watched Road To Ninja or listened to Road to Charasuke, you will notice that the alternated characters (in this case, I’ll call them RTN characters) somewhat still have the same interests/behaviours their canon characters have despite their drastic personality change.
So, what I’m saying is that the RTN characters ARE NOT COMPLETELY different from the Canon ones; they are similar to some extent.
Let me show you some examples that will help explain that a little better.
1.) Let’s compare Canon Neji with RTN Neji.
Isn’t it funny how Neji just randomly accuses Naruto for thinking of doing something bad like peeping into the girl’s side in the hot springs? He even thought this to himself: “Wow! Hinata, you’ve grown way too much!”
Doesn’t that tell you something?
Masashi Kishimoto drew this special manga Chapter for Road to Ninja himself. Despite Canon Neji acting “protective and aloof” when it comes to naked girls in the hotsprings, I think the third panel pretty much tells us that Canon Neji is indeed a pervert The way he commented how “big” Hinata is, proves he peeped on the girl’s side to peep on Hinata.
Now lets’ look at RTN Neji.
Same deal. Neji peeps through the wall in the girl’s side to see Hinata. The difference here is that RTN Neji actually shows the signs of being a pervert.
They both have completely different personalities yet they have the same affections/ambition towards Hinata when they’re both were in the hot springs.
*sigh* It turns out, the females were actually yelling/commenting about Hinata’s breasts in the manga, not Neji? Sorry about the mix up!
#2.) Comparing Canon Ino with RTN Ino
Canon Ino:
In episode 257, we get to see Canon Ino showing concern how Sakura hasn’t been herself lately. She takes care of Sakura throughout the whole episode and even asks the Konoha 12 to help her regain Sakura’s memory.
At the end of the episode, RTN Sakura tells Canon Ino that she isn’t from their world but she thanks Ino “for being [her] friend here, as well."
RTN Ino:
The examples I’ll be using for RTN Ino aren’t actually in the movie but rather, from the Drama CD: Road To Charasuke. In the Drama CD, we get to see how RTN Ino acts more since she has a lot more screen time there.
RTN Ino cares deeply about Sakura. The main plot in the drama CD is about RTN Hinata planning a group outing in order to get RTN Sasuke and Sakura together. (Please note they all don’t know Sakura is actually from from the Canon world; they think she’s RTN Sakura)
RTN Ino knows that RTN Sakura doesn’t like RTN Sasuke so she tries to stop them from getting together. She even mentions how she doesn’t want to see Sakura unhappy and that she suits better with Menma (Naruto) who is a nice and kind man like his father.
So again, both Inos have different personalities yet they have the same affections towards Sakura. They both deeply care about her.
#3.) Comparing Canon Minato and Kushina with RTN Minato and Kushina.
They both have the same personalities as the Canon MinaKushi. Another similarity is that they care so much for Naruto/Menma.
The differences here are: RTN Minato is not Hokage and they’re both alive in the alternated universe.
#4) Comparing Canon Hinata with RTN Hinata
Both Hinatas are deeply in love with Naruto but the differences in their personalities make them show their affection or behaviour towards Naruto/Menma very differently.
Canon Hinata tends to shy away from Naruto while RTN Hinata will do whatever it takes to get Menma (Naruto). In the Drama CD, RTN Hinata partners up with RTN Sasuke to make Sakura fall for him so she can have Menma to herself.
Different personalities yet they have the same interest towards Naruto.
#5) Comparing Sasuke with RTN Sasuke.
First, let’s quickly take a look at how RTN Sasuke behaves around Naruto. He still has that cold and cool personality which Canon Sasuke has. Even Naruto comments on how RTN Sasuke hasn’t changed in both the movie and the drama CD.
I don’t know if this means anything but I’m just showing you that the RTN Sasuke isn’t completely different from Canon Sasuke. The only difference I see is that, RTN Sasuke’s personality changes around his fangirls. Instead of ignoring them and treating them like crap, he now responds to them by flirting and giving them a rose.
Canon Sasuke’s love interest?
He doesn’t show any interest towards his fan girls from when he was young to now. In chapter 627, we see Sasuke react to Karin’s hug and that’s the closest thing we can get Sasuke to actually react towards a girl thus far. We still don’t know if it’s romantic or not. To me, it’s more of a really shocked reaction because he stabbed her yet she quickly forgave him right after he apologized. So I can’t tell if this hug tells us that Sasuke actually likes Karin that way. I know for sure he deeply cares for her, but I don’t know if he has a crush on her..yet.
It’s pretty much the same with Sakura when he was younger. He showed lots (and I MEAN LOTS) of signs that he cared about her so much. When Sakura hugged him, that stopped him from using his curse seal. But still, there were no signs of him having a crush on her.
I honestly think Sasuke’s relationship with Karin and Sakura are somewhat similar. Not the same, but similar. He thinks of them as very very important comrades/friends but when he is in his dark phase, he attempts on killing them at one point. Ah, so sad damn it.
In conclusion, we all don’t know if he likes any of them in a romantic way. Not even in special episodes such as fillers, movies or any of that sort do we see Sasuke showing hints of liking or crushing on a girl.
So this leads to my question: what type of girl could Sasuke possibly like?
Road to Charasuke COULD be the possible answer to that.
RTN Sasuke’s love interest?
What I see here is that RTN Sasuke does like RTN Sakura but he doesn’t try that hard to pursue her. Why?
In the movie, RTN Sasuke notices how Sakura has been down lately so he approaches her in the morning to give her a rose, telling that he’ll listen to all her troubles and that he will always be by her side. But Sakura finds him doing the same thing to the other girls which hurt her feelings deeply. This shows that RTN Sasuke doesn’t think of RTN Sakura any differently from his fan girls.
Now, in the drama CD, the main reason why RTN Sasuke is trying so hard to win Sakura’s heart is because RTN Hinata seems to be pushing him to do so. RTN Sasuke and RTN Hinata noticed that the Sakura with them right now is actually showing signs that she’s interested in RTN Sasuke (RTN Sakura apparently shows no interest in him) so RTN Sasuke is trying to win her heart.
But near the end, RTN Ino uses her mind transfer technique on RTN Hinata and pulls RTN Sasuke out of the restaurant. Now this is the funny thing I’ve kinda noticed.
During this part of the Drama CD, RTN Sasuke seems to act a bit more like the Canon Sasuke. He rudely swings his arm away from "RTN Hinata’s” grip and becomes very annoyed how she stops him when things are going smoothly with Sakura. From this point on, “RTN Hinata” yells at RTN Sasuke (with teary eyes) saying that she didn’t wish for his date with Sakura to become successful which leads to RTN Sasuke’s heart to thump.
Yes, you guessed it, this player, fell for her.
RTN Sasuke’s reaction towards this feeling:
“W-what’s with her? Suddenly saying something cute. Moreover, she’s looking at me with teary eyes. kitten, what is this strange phenomenon? I’m getting a huge effect from Hinata’s “tsun”(irritable) to “dere” (cute) effect.”

This moment shows that this is his first time feeling that way towards a girl; a feeling that is soo confusing to him. He doesn’t understand what type phenomenon was attacking his heart.
Funny, isn’t it?
The FIRST SasuHina interaction we get is Sasuke falling for Hinata. IMO, it doesn’t matter if it’s just a drama CD because even in fillers, movies or any special episodes, we don’t see Sasuke (whether he’s canon or alternated) having this effect in his heart towards Sakura, Ino, Karin or any other side female character. Also, this special CD is associated with the Road to Ninja movie which was written by Masashi Kishimoto, himself.
I don’t know for sure who wrote the script to the Drama CD but at least the anime staff or MAYBE even Kishi himself acknowledges the possible relationship between Sasuke and Hinata.
So how does this apply to Canon Sasuke’s type of girl?
Throughout this post, I’m sure you’ve noticed how some RTN characters behaved somewhat similar; they also seem to have the same interest as the Canon characters.
What we know is that in the Canon universe, many of us seem to notice that Canon Sasuke gets annoyed by loud people.
In the alternated universe, we get a moment where RTN Sasuke falls for RTN Hinata with RTN Ino’s personality => a person who has a “dere” (cute personality) and acts demurely.
Interesting, isn’t it?
Now assuming Canon Sasuke’s love interest is the same as RTN Sasuke’s interest, then that means Canon Sasuke could possibly like demure type of girls– those type of girls who are shy, quiet and well-behaved.
So…Who will catch Canon Sasuke’s attention most?
#1.) Yamanaka Ino?
In the alternated universe, RTN Ino took over RTN Hinata’s body and was the one who approached RTN Sasuke thus making him fall for RTN Hinata (who is really RTN Ino).
Problem: Canon Ino’s personality isn’t like RTN Ino’s personality. She doesn’t have the “cute, teary, shy and quiet” personality traits which “RTN Hinata” displayed when RTN Sasuke has fallen for her in the Drama CD.
#2.) Hyuuga Hinata?
In the alternated universe, RTN Ino has taken RTN Hinata’s physical appearance when RTN Sasuke has fallen for her. So in his eyes, he fell in love with RTN Hinata but with RTN Ino’s personality.
If you combine RTN Ino’s personality with RTN Hinata’s physical appearance…we get: Canon Hinata.
Problem: If RTN Sasuke likes Canon Hinata, then it’s possible Canon Sasuke likes the opposite of Canon Hinata (aggressive, confident, girls).
#3.) Uzumaki Karin?
(She didn’t appear in the alternated universe (Road to Ninja)
She’s aggressive, confident and very well-known as a “Tsundere” character. In the drama CD, RTN Sasuke fell in love with RTN Hinata when she appeared to be “tsundere.” So, it’s possible that Canon Sasuke might have a thing for Tsundere girls.
Problem: There are no rock-solid signs of him showing love interest in Karin thus far. But still, they’ve had so many moments together in the Canon world.
But there’s another theory with Hinata!
If RTN Sasuke started liking RTN Hinata because she “showed" interest in him, (this is part in the Drama CD where RTN Sasuke misunderstood RTN Hinata confessing to him), then it’s possible that Canon Sasuke might be interested in Canon Hinata for "not showing” any interest in him…?
There’s that too if you’re thinking about complete opposites.

Okay, just to make things crystal clear, these are just speculations and observations I’ve noticed when comparing Road to Ninja/Charasuke’s content with the manga or the anime.
Remember, Masashi Kishimoto wrote Road to Ninja himself. I’m not sure if he contributed or wrote anything for the Drama CD. But if he didn’t, then at least the anime staff acknowledges SasuHina’s possible relationship whether it’s comic relief or what.
Also if you noticed, Road to Ninja has a lot of NaruSaku moments/hints which we’ve been actually getting in the recent chapters of Naruto (esp. chapter 631).
So the SasuHina moment in Road to Charasuke could mean something in the manga near the future. You never know.

Hmm after watching so many anime, i notice there is a lot love triangle happen , MC love Heroine and then it's either heroine love someone else or there is another girl that love MC ... usually childhood friends. This romance formula happens a lot especially in romance genre anime. I wonder if japanese people find this sweet or popular ...

kitten Naruto, is all I can say ot became kitten a long time ago I mean just how itrs all going filler after filler, and I won't go even into how bad the Blot manga is going or rehashing of the the Bolt Film I can say.
Now why do I say well Dragon ball super episode 47 which is dark and I do mean dark as hell guys I mean I will not ruin it for anyone but god damn for anyone who have watched it you all know what I'm talking about, and what happened in the episode. This is why I'm happy DB has come back from a writer that knows how to do woman as well again you all saw what happened close to the end.
With Kishi well he would make all bad guys have a damn sob story to why they are evil, and have the woman be side line as Kishi is a woman hater, and I know that may be going to far but after the comment on Sakura not moving on that is how I will view Kishi and SP true I will say Super's anamation has not been good but this episode showed us that they can do all the stopsd when they have the money.
Hell Luckchi7 did a review as well on the episode, this is why writers like.
Akira Toriyama, hideo kojima jrr tolkien dave filoni and many more are better than Kishi, they all put love into the work they do and for one did kitten on woman I could list all the woman they have done and how the grew, Kishi can't do that why people say he is a good writer or say he can't do woman when two I have listed are from Japan as well.
Toriyama, Kojima and Tolkien are/were great writers with lore, development, action, among other though I like the Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit movies are better as they do more with the character especially with the hobbit and the other dwarves like Dawlin, Kili and Fili they are some of my favorites next to Thorin, Thorin was the best part of the Hobbit movies. Do more with Bard as supposed to showing him in the last 55 pages of the story. Kojima making interesting and deep stories with great characters and moments with great fights. Toriyama who does good if not very long fights. They can write better love stories than Kishi ever could especially Kojima.

Imo, most anime will have the mc doesn't love anyone in the first place and the girls/boys will fall in love to the mc and tried to become the girl/boyfriend.
Sometimes the mc love interest is the childhood friend.

Eh, I do not believe that is the case. Kishi had made Sakura's character as a result of wanting to make an irritating character, not for Otaku boys. If that was the case then she probably would have looked more voluptuous and sexualised a whole lot throughout the manga series :/

Yes, sakura is created with the mind of ordinary female character, irritating, and hard to understand boys. She and rock lee are the representation of human weakness. That kind of attribute is not how you make a character to please an otaku. Especially not the moe standard.

its just after DC rebirth with their reset it just feels so...refreshing and gives me an idea. Like....idk, i imagine if they wanted to keep naruto alive they'd probably treat shonen like dc/marvel treat their super heroes. rebooting or following different universes/else world stories, etc.

First of all, there is no need to get feisty with me. I know what an Otaku is & from what I have seen and read, it all but negative. If you like it cool.
Anyways, Sakura had always been a classic tsundere, so as I said before Kishi made her with a certain mindset and that's what she was throughout the entire manga series and when it comes to Sasuke, same thing.
Now when it comes to Sakura and Sasuke relationship it has always been about the good girl liking the bad boy and Sakura's attitude/feelings for him has been based on nothing else but selfishness. Not for 'Sakura created for became male otaku self insert character (Sasuke) waifu,' as you put it.

Some people hate naruto but some people like naruto. Naruto is popular manga, it can sustains itself. Since people like it, they'll ask more. It's all matter of supply and demand.

Read Genshiken manga to understand otaku mindset, not all of them maniac. In past, NS argument often potray otaku as maniac, no wonder after ending they happily steamrolled NS from Naruto fandom.
