Alright, I wanted to ask you, Tricks; how do you feel about this Genjutsu theory that Starlitestarbrite has had; where everyone is in the Infinite Tsukuyomi and hasn't woken up yet?
I love this theory!!!! I hadn't thought about it that way - that the genjutsu started at the beginning of the war and not the end - but it makes great sense and opens the door for things to go very differently.
It kind of makes the IT world half dream world and half worst possible scenario. Like for each good thing a person gains in the IT world, they would lose something too.
Hinata gains Naruto's love, yet she loses Neji.
Sakura gains Sasuke's love, yet she loses Naruto's.
Ino gains Sai, but she loses her father.
Etc. etc. etc.
And this pattern would follow into the future of Konoha, where Naruto is the kage, but he turns out to not be any different from the rest of them. And Konoha has peace, but at what cost? They're a modern city, devoid of the traditions that made it the great "Village Hidden in the Leaves."
So if there were a scenario where Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke realized they were trapped in a genjutsu, then they might be able to see the two different worlds. What they've gained and what they've had to give up.
And the fight then could be to break the genjutsu and return the world back to before the war - plunging them back, from peace back into war, from stability back into instability, but also giving them a chance to have a real future, not one that was designed to keep the just numbed enough to not want to fight back.
Naruto, Sakura, Sasuke could work independently to unravel the whole dream world. Sasuke leaving the village and never knowing Salad could all be because he's already figured out that it's some kind of IT world. And it could also be that Neji realized that something was wrong, sensed the genjutsu, fought back against Madara and that was why he died during the war. Same with Inoichi and Shika's dad.
Anyway...you can see I think it's a great idea that you could easily run with!! lol! But I think it's a great theory - better than the IT happening at the end with Obito. (In fact, perhaps Obito's under it as well, where he thinks he has ultimate power, but he doesn't.)
