Let's say somewhere down the line Kishi or someone at SJ decided to a Naruto reboot. Let's say long after Naruto's popularity faded. And no more contract with SP. Would you look forward to it? What changes would you want to see from the original series?

Anime? Doubt it?
Manga? Even less chances, all I ever saw - was reboot of original storyline from same mangaka, but he did that, after original story was logicaly ended.

I would like to see Kishi rollback the time and create a alternate timeline from the end of pains arc, because I think for many of us this was the point where the story really started to diverge from the point it was originally intended, the writing style, the involvement of Hinata all happened from this arc, think before this point Hinata was only involved with the Neji arc, after that she was forced more on us, and Sakura's role also started to become more questionable, her confidence was higher, her decisions her more decisive and not involve Sasuke, and her popularity was at a all time high. I also think the series lost allot of fans after the arc, you could tell the series lost it's focus, and many fans only stuck with it because they'd been with Naruto for so long. I would like to read the end that was originally planned for this, even if it didn't involve god teir enemies. The war ruined one of the biggest phrases from the manga 'It's the job of the new generation to surpass the previous generation' the war showed us the new gen is weak compared to the past.

If Kishi makes a reboot sometime in the future (pfff, yeah right), i'd like it more if it happens directly after the chuunin exams. More realism, more politics, genetics of bloodlines, more history (like the clans), more violence, etc. Basically a far more mature series. I mean, why the kitten is the daimyo this old, frail and stupid weed who looks like he doesn't have food? Why isn't he a real battle tested samurai-lord? Why doesn't he have children (or we didn't see some)? And why the heck didn't the war involve the minor villages? Why didn't 'Madara' manipulate them into fighting against the five great nations?

So much wasted potential through trying to keep the manga for the younger audience...

 

 

 

As I said about Star Wars, it's part of the movie industry, an industry that is known to change and rewrite, the book series were canon because Lucas Arts said they were, now that it's changed hands and they want to expand it, the rest can be destroyed because for allot of fans of the series the universe doesn't exist outside canon, it's not part of the movies so it's OK to not exist for them. And if they do deside to nuke episode 1-3 they'd need a complete reboot of series and create a fork in the timeline that would split the universe, like the Star Trek Universe, everything that happened in the universe happened already but for the new reboot to be also considered canon, they created a fork in the timeline that left the original universe as it was and created a whole new timeline for the new one.

Actually, for a lot of StarWars fans the Timothy Zahn books ('The Thrawn Triology' and 'The Caamas Crisis Triology') are still considered canon and many hope that Warner Bros. and Lucas Arts make 'The Thrawn Triology' into the new movies.

I actually wouldn't mind a reboot like ten years from now but I want a different kittening ending. I want it to stop right after the Pein arc, and I want a realistic ending where Sasuke and Team Taka leave to atone for their sins and Naruto goes straight to being hokage. Either Narusaku or an open-ending. And then a written letter by Kishimoto saying that he regretted Naruto's original ending. 

 

Let's hope the next generation of fans will never have to go through what we went through.

I'll take it, but I won't trust it if it's made by Kishimoto. Like, even without the influence of his peers, he's still a suckish writer.

I would. I want it to be the same 700 chapters, but of course Naruto and Sakura-Chan must get together. Naruto must get his powers through hard work and never giving up. And a lot of other things.

You know I was thinking about writing my own novel version of Naruto. Obviously Its going to have its own creative liberaties to be original, but it'll have a similar concept to what Naruto originally was in part 1.

And I might reboot the whole damn manga myself and redraw everything. Minus the copic market coloring, because I don't have money for that. But I'll redraw and rewrite the whole 700 chapters.

Well before I started working on my main book (that I'm currently working on). I was working on a small side project of how I'd want the book to take place. So the first book would have concepts similar to Part 1, and the second book would be a timeskip but would still carry on the concepts of Book 1 that way things don't get convoluted and become filled with plotholes unlike hmmm you know. Then the final book of the trilogy would take place immediately after book 2  so Book 3 wouldn't have a second timeskip. It would just Book 1  and then Book 2 timeskip and then Book 3 immediately after the second book. I'm not sure If I'm gonna go with this idea because I'm so caught up on my main book I've been working on, but I will say that if I go through with this one  then I'd have everything planned out even the ending to the series (again if I do decide to go through with it).

I wouldn't mind a reboot, though really I would just be contented with Kishi coming out and admitting that this travesty of an ending was a mistake, that was never planned, while NS/T7 ending was what was supposed to happen. I mean, from all the BS that has spilled from his mouth, this will be the best thing he's said in months.( or years, considering he confessed that he didn't know how to defeat Madara.)

An SP NAruto Reboot? No thanks. We know where their opinions lie and they have already retconned the series into an entire different genre.

It wouldnt be really the first time that it happens with a manga. Battle Angel did it "the author was unsatisfied with the ending so he changed it completely and it kicked ass.

 

I would suggest for MK to do the same but only if Yahagi was onboard all the way and stuff began after Pain. "Just before the Kage summit arc when all went down the drain"

Why did he change the ending? What didn't he like?

Personally, I'd like to see him redo most of part 2 using the art style of part one. I hate the fact that he changed it to look more like the anime. Also yeah, the entire period after the battle with Pein deserves an overhaul. I stuck with it thinking Kishi would eventually return to form. Instead he ruined the series in a way I never thought imaginable.

Heck, I felt the whole "new generation surpassing the old generation" was screwed the moment Naruto and Sasuke were being handed more and more hax power-ups after the Kakuzu and Hidan Arc instead of, like most of the previous generations had done in their careers, actually working for them and then training to master them.

Amen to that, bro. I mean, Sage Mode to an extent for Naruto was him having to train to use it, but I've always seen what you mean in the long haul. Not to mention stuff like the war, and so much more showed hypocrisies in the series.
