How you see Zutara is how the rest of the fandom sees Narusaku. Replace Aang with Sakura and you get why, well, Narusaku wasn't going to happen (without some serious changes on Sakura's part that sadly never happened)
 
The movie might have the closure we want for Narusaku, but that scene with Sakura encouraging Hinata....I don't know. I think it's probably best left up to our imaginations. We'll get much more satisfaction that way.

I actually don't agree with you in NS = zutara

First because kataang was obvious since the beginning, SS/NH was not obvious .And also because the situations were completely different, i mean look at sasuke, he never ever expressed any interest in sakura, the same about naruto for Hinata

The truth is that the romance in naruto was very badly done, very very badly while the romance in ATLA was actually decent

Now, the romance in naruto was very badly done bc it never had good development for NH/SS , NS was the best developed in the big 3 but still was also kind of underdeveloped.

Kishimoto sucks in the romance aspect, the story would be so much better if it focused in the bond of team Seven as a whole

I watched Avatar TLA, with no shipping preferences whatsoever. I didn't care who ended up with who in that. 
 
And Zutarra was not very similar at all. They never spent that much time together, and they both had someone they clearly liked.

Aang always loved Katara, and Katara started to slowly see Aang as more then just a friend, watch the fortune teller episode again, clear as day hint there " fall for a man who is a great binder" or something like that . ( Anng and Katara almost kissed, and had a few real kisses to boot!)

Kataang is what I thought Narusaku would be, and to be honest, I still think it will be! For now, I'm keeping the faith.

Zutara make no sense since the beginning. Aang has romantic feeling for Katara that were return only by the end. Remember when he tried to kiss her in season 3 the 2nd time? He always like her and even renonce the mastery over the avatar state to keep his feeling for her. He ultimatly won her by the end of the show. Katara fight zuko during all the show and she only forgive him when he offer her revenge. Katata love for Aang wasn't obvious either. She blush here and there but also get pissed off at him time to time. They had a relationship. Zuko fight side by side with her against Azula, but they never had an interaction. This pairing exist because Aang got jealous of Zuko because he was the only one that could stand in his way about her.  It was jealous because they were having a though tiem and he think it mess it up.

 

It was create out of drama, but the story develop all along Katata/Aang. Zuko was a rival that never has either Katara attention romantically and didn't have any desire to be with her. He was on his path of redemption and that thing is like in 3 episode top of season 3. The main character saves the world, get the girl it likes and everyone is happy. Don't even compare how the last airbender was written compare to this ending. The difference here was that the author sold out, pure and simple. SS happen to make NH happen and be more tolerate. Sakura's main obstacle has a character to grow was to overcome her 1st love for Sasuke, and up to 698, it shows a lot of progress. Just think back when she never trusted his magical return. She want to go back to the old days, were team 7 was a family.

 

Katara saving Aang at the end of season 2 / CPR SCENE FOR NS.  We weren't wrong. We were cheated. Everyone as to act OOC to make this ending happen. Now the Last would kill all the 698 chapters of development. It's as simple as that.

Because the path has been altered. If not, he has no idea on love. Backwards as you can say. But really, for the time being, it's the former and it's a huge shame.

The thing that pisses me off the most is all the development NS had and for what ?  I mean why go through all the trouble if you're never gonna make it canon. The multiple parallels, Yamato's unfinished sentence, Sakura blushing and saying "this is Naruto... What's this feeling ?" (in chapter 3), the hug after the pain fight, Naruto's answer to Minato's "are you Naruto's girlfriend ?", Having Minato actually confirm the Kushina-Sakura parallel, the CPR scene.

 

Also Kakashi commenting on Sakura's feelings for Sasuke: "And Sakura i reckon your feelings towards Sasuke have changed since that time. Even IF you still like him it's probably a different feeling."

 

This was like near the very end of the manga. Why did he have to put that in ? To throw us off ? He didn't need to. The lack of development between NH and SS was more then enough.

 

I feel cheated. Trolled. I'm pissed at Kishimoto.

Saw the trailer and already know how it's gonna go. Random villain pops up. Massive NH interaction. then Naruto "realizes" that he always loved Hinata, asspulls flashback to make it seem like Naruto's "love for Hinata" actually has depth and wasn't just completely asspulled.
