I am now convinced that Sakura isn't encouraging Hinata to go for Naruto (or give him a scarf) in that scene. The one where she has her hands on Hinata's shoulders and Hinata is blushing.

 

(I believe) Sakura is encouraging her to try on different clothes from the ones she usually wears (her baggy ones). 

 

Hinata could be happy and embarrassed by this (to go clothes shopping), which is why she is blushing.....

 

and also why her new clothes are more Sakura-like than Hinata-like.

This movie is more or less just another "filler" ... so ... 

it certainly looks that way based on the information we've gotten.

I found this and don't know if it has been posted yet. Some have speculated the size of the box may indicate who has a bigger role in this movie. It makes sense since the largest box is Naruto who is the main character. Hinata who we know has a large role in the movie has a larger box too. The other largest box is Sakura's and the main villain. So the four largest boxes consist of the main character, the main villian, the girl seemingly getting development romantic or not this movie, and Sakura so at least she may have some larger role in the movie. It makes sense since no matter how the romance subplot is settled it is not being settled without Sakura having a significant role in it.

From the still images given of Hanabi and Hinata, it seems like they're both going to confront the big baddie at some point in the movie. Curiously enough, Hanabi is assuming a combat ready position while visibly ruffled and intimidated by the ever growing shadow of a being that's coming closer and closer. Hinata doesn't appear to be uncertain or tense over the magnitude of the threat she's confronting. There's a mild level of stress and tenderness being conveyed with her facial expression, but it's largely filled with determination. She's hardly ever been confronted with a personal crisis like the one that Toneri is wrecking on her family. The death of Neji was the only time in Part 2 we've ever seen Hinata express any serious, heartfelt acknowledgement for another person besides Naruto. That familial love is just oppressed under the crushing weight of desires for the object of her philosophical hopes. 

 

I'm just curious to see how Hinata might have improved over the years, if not emotionally then at least physically in terms of combat. Although I don't want that moment of glory to outshine Sakura's strengths. That silly off-hand quote about Ino keeping up with Sakura through hard work is enough to make me question the competence of the writers.

I absolutely agree. Hinata will be just like another filler heroine. And you know what, those heroines change, but Sakura remains.

Fun thing, if you click on Naruto and then go to the next character using the right arrow, the next character to pop up is Sakura, so apparently she's always featured as the next character after Naruto.

yes. but shion is far prettier than hinata. and i prefer her personality to hinata's. she's funny.

I ask myself that all the time! Why do people even like her?? She's a side character that gets even lest screen time then her comrades do. All she's about is Naruto, so do they all like her because she loves Naruto?? Is that the only reason??

I don't so much about the americans and Japanesse. But i think characters who is shy, kind, insecure and has big breast is quite popular in USA and Japan, especielly with boys.
Because they are often described as they will always support you, will never go against you and will stand behind you. Something like antifeminisn.
You can often see characters as Hinata in hentai and Shojo mangas. I think this kind of character's has a name, like Sakura who belongs to the catagory Tsunadere. So it's not just because Hinata loves Naruto that makes her popular, it's mostly because she is the kind of anime character who is often popular.

The manga maybe not as much, but in the anime she blushes a heck of a lot more XD and well....SP is animating the movie.

This ship will not sink. Its marching dead on! The end is approaching and so is the movie....time to go full swing, hard to starboard, all canons loaded. Gotta screw up the kitten! Yes! I did say screw up the kitten AND of course....the NH ship. This scene oddly reminds me of Captain Barbosa's words as a captain on Black Pearl XD

Some people told me Sakura was the 2 main character so I don't know   But it doesn't bother me in the slightest even if the case is as you said...
