You know what i find funny ? When asked to explain the double standard - ''Within three chapters Sakura tired to kill Sasuke because she loved him and wanted to save him from darkness to Sakura failed to kill him because she loved him. Either way she loved him.''
any of the other sub sections of the fandom don't know how to do it . You''ll get a panel shoved in the face with Sai or Naruto saying '' She loves Sasuke so much'' ''She will kill him because bla bla '' which would make her confession selfish and that she DOESN"T love Naruto at all. People flip flop like pancakes and would even say ''Because Naruto is her best friend and Sasuke is her lover she did that because her friend was suffering and to end Sasuke's misery because she loves him'' Um,lol? I saw a pattern here. ^^ We are forgetting that Sakura didn't think about her feelings for a single second , in other words, she was selfless the whole time. IF she thought of her emotions she holds for Naruto and realized them back then it was game over then and there. But we have to prolong the pairing drama and give her that flashback + 540.

Folks  even bail out , which is very intriguing. This tells me that they pretty much know how much SAkura loves(loved) Naruto back then so she decided to end Sasuke's existence in order to relieve Naruto's burden , but will never admit it because for the simple reason their desires were destroyed back then or it depends on bad reading comprehension. Even if Sakura loves Naruto as a friend its still more powerful feeling than she will ever felt/feel for Sasuke. That's why when the tenchi bridge incident occurred her emotions were triggered and we got that in the manga even described (powerful emotion) .No matter what people say think or what ever that Sasuke is her true love and she loves him so much , it will be a lesser feeling in my eyes just because i can see how much she adores and cares for Naruto.

Sakura's actions in the Kage Summit Arc were entirely focused around the welfare of her team. Everything she thought or did was because she wanted to "help" Naruto and Sasuke. However, it's heavily implied that Naruto was her main focus and though she genuinely cares for him, it was partly because of guilt. Sai's declaration not only increased her mild self-hate over herself, but it made her desperate to make it up to him in anyway she could. And that ... that was the confession.

Sakura did plan the confession step-by-step before she did it, but that doesn't mean she was logical over it. Her confession to Naruto and attempt to kill Sasuke was entirely on emotion. And no, while I admire Sakura's efforts, it wasn't the right thing to do entirely.  She should've told Naruto the truth instead of "confessing", she put both of them in a very complicated situation. I'm not angry over it because I recognized everything she did was only because she cared, but that doesn't mean I think it was the best decision.

I feel Sakura's confession and feelings are so complicated, no one can call it an outright lie or truth without lying to themselves (IMO).  She was earlier established as having ambiguous feelings for Naruto yet still loved Sasuke in Databook 3, nothing too major happened during the time interval to sort it out. Never mind that it probably also had to do with Sakura purposely ignoring it. When she went there, she wasn't thinking about being in love with Naruto. She was just thinking about protecting him, which is why her confession is not honest. However, since Sasuke's fall to darkness, she was trying to convince herself that she no longer cared for Sasuke or had feelings for him because she doesn't want to anymore. She'd rather love Naruto, the person who doesn't cause her pain and actually cares for her and everyone else. That was also the problem. Since Sakura hadn't realized if she loved Naruto yet, she listed all of the reason why she should love him. Dense as he is, Naruto picked up on this. Though the part he missed was that she was obviously confused over what she felt for him, and instead he went to his default "Sakura doesn't love me, she loves Sasuke."  And along with that, his denial convinced more than half of the fandom.

It's rather funny, actually. Sakura's complicating her relationship with Naruto more than necessary, while Naruto is being the complete opposite and simplifying it. It's really no wonder the two argued over this during the confession. Both have such varying outlooks on their relationship and what it really means, there's no way they would've reached a common ground. Especially given Sakura's ulterior motives the entire time for confessing in the first place.

These two just need to define their relationship sometime soon. Though I get the feeling Naruto probably doesn't want to and prefers not to bring it up ... typical of him. -_-

I won't let you die ... your stupid dream ... now it's ... it's right in front of us!!"                                                                             ----Sakura Haruno

Here's the way I see it, and I will try to be concise while summarizing everything leading to this moment, everything that has happened since, and everything that is likely to happen moving forward.

Early Part 1

Bench Scene - Naruto builds a false picture of Sauske in Sakura's mind. She was infatuated with Sauske like the other girls in their class before this incident. Afterword, she believed that "Sauske" not only reciprocated her feelings, but saw and liked inner Sakura as well. In essence, "Sauske" saw into heart heart and understood her completely. I think that this single event affected her so deeply that she will continue to struggle to let go of the idealized Sauske until Naruto reveals the truth (possibly just before a final battle with Sauske in case he dies).

Remainder of Part 1

After that moment, Sauske gradually slips into darkness and evil. He never does anything remarkably chivalrous for Sakura and merely thanks her before leaving town. Naruto, on the other hand, starts to open her eyes to him, even in their first training session with Kakashi. She grows to trust and believe in him more than anyone (including Sauske).

Unfortunately for Naruto, in the moment that he makes the POAL, he is completely and finally convinced that she deeply loves Sauske. This is likely the reason for Naruto's unwillingness to accept her confession in Part 2.

Sakura, on the other hand, has completely dissolved any thoughts of Naruto being an annoyance. She becomes resolved to be able to help him in the future and dedicates the next three years to that end. She is also questioning why Sauske, who seemed to be her soulmate, could abandon her so easily.

Part 2

The beginnings of a possible romantic attraction are shown at the beginning of part two in the first interaction. Sakura shows a desire to see the idealized Naruto from the onset, lightly flirting with him and thinking of how "mature" he had become. Naruto again is his own worst enemy and immediately attempts to demostrate his new perverted ninjutsu.

Over the course of the first half of Part 2, Sakura has several moments where she unconciously reveals "more than friendship feelings" for Naruto. While Naruto plays into the "going on a date" thing and other lighter scenes, in moments when her deepest feelings about him come out, he is either unconcious or intentionally oblivious. Probably the biggest moment for me was when Pain destroyed the villiage. She cried out for Naruto, not Tsunade, not Kakashi, and definitely not Sauske. There was little reason other than having faith in him to believe that a short period of training could allow him to defeat Pain. Yet, she cries out for him anyway. There are other moments, like when Sauske is revealed to be a member of Akatsuki for instance, where Naruto sees her sorrow. These moments just cement his preconceived notion that Sakura deeply loves Sauske and there's not much he can do about it unless he can come through on the POAL.

The Confession

I can understand why this moment has caused a lot of controversy, because there were multiple things happening at once. However, I think that it was a net positive in the end for NaruSaku.

Sakura decides to go to Naruto before she even takes much time to process the information Sai provided about his feelings. When she confesses to Naruto she uses logical reasoning. He's the hero etc. Basically, she lists the reasons that any girl would like Naruto. I think this is where she hasn't fully come to terms with her feelings for Naruto, and her idealized view of Sauske is holding her back. She is also is trying to play on his feelings to get him to come back to the villiage. I think this is what made the whole thing feel kind of off to me. However, I have since realized that the primary intention was not to get Naruto to come back. She didn't expect him to. Instead, she was trying to relieve him of the POAL burden. She also wanted to erase Naruto's feelings for her so that if she suceeded in killing Sauske, or if she died herself, the blow would be lessened. Naruto refuses to believe any of it because, in his heart, he believes that nothing has changed her feelings for Sauske. She doesn't make a very convincing arguement on that front anyway.

Why is this a net positive.

1. Sakura did all of this to try and take away Naruto's burdens beceause she cares about him so much and blames herself for his suffering. Subsequently, Sauske tries to kill her and Naruto appears out of nowhere to save her. He does so even with the bitter end to their previous conversation. Sakura is left to consider her feelings for Naruto.

2. Naruto has now been directly confronted with the possibily of Sakura returning his feelings. He also realizes that all of her actions were meant to protect him.

In the end, nothing will be resolved until the truth about Naruto's feelings is revealed by Naruto himself (Sauske won't do it). More than his feelings though, he must do something to show her that he's the one who she has a true connection with, not Sauske. In this world actions speak louder than words, and Naruto conveys his feelings through his actions. I guess we'll see what happens.

I guess my answer to the question is that Sakura is telling the truth, she just doesn't know it.
