So basically he thought people liked Hinata because of her beauty so he decided to make Sakura more beautiful in order for people to like her. Wrong choice. Giving Sakura development and not taking that away from her like he did in the Madara fight and all the other moments would make people like her.

I don't know, because I'm in debate on what's more dumb: what you said or the investment I put in to his work.

and iirc sakura wasn't his original idea, so now it makes even more sense why he hates her.

It's even dumber when you consider the fact that she was always popular (more than Hinata anyway) so there was no need to spend large amounts of time drawing her looks in order to try to make her popular in the first place. He was so out of touch with his fanbase (unacceptable) and ended up doing something that wasn't even necessary instead of spending time not making Sakura look like trash development wise.

He was dumb. If he wanted Hinata's fanbase like Sakura he should have made her have big boobs and become submissive. People who likes Sakura and hate Hinata has their reasons. One of them being is that they hate how Hinata's brain is filled with 100% romance even in times of war and Sakura's mind was more focused in healing people and fighting the enemy. Kishi totally ignored about these fans who liked the aggressive heroine instead of the love obsessed princess.

To be honest it's hard to even believe a single word Kishimoto says anymore. How many times has this guy contradicted himself over the years? Too many times to count from what I can recall, so what are the chances he is telling the truth during that interview? Not very high would be my guess.

Oh, well that doesn't really mean he regrets her then, does it? In context, it seems like he's regretful that she got all the hate from those rabid Otaku's. Kinda consistent when he got pissed because of the Hinata comparison.
