The ending he was talking about was chapter 698: Naruto and Sasuke's fight 

Allright, that makes more sense. It's just that I thought he was responding to people who were upset with the pairings, but point taken.

I would believe the ending was planned in terms of Naruto and Sasuke ordeal. The path, no. The aftermath, hell no. The outcome, more or less no. Everything outside handing back the headband, all wrong.

I think the Naruto vs Sasuke stuff was planned out for years though the fight could have been a lot longer, but maybe it was cut short because SP wanted him to end the manga so that they could get the Last released into theaters.

 

I believe Kishi has stopped giving a kitten at this point and is just letting SP and WSJ do whatever they want with the series.

Kakashi at the beginning of the manga was a lot different than he is now. I'm glad that he stepped up with Sakura and said it was the teacher's responsibility to handle his wayward student, not hers. So I feel like that was a step in the right direction of him acknowledging that Sasuke was his problem and he was going to fix it.

 

However, it would have been nice if there was some reason for Kakashi being as distant as he was in the beginning. Hiruzen dumped the team on Kakashi because he "had a nose for these types." What a strange thing to say! What does that mean about Kakashi, especially since he didn't often take on teams (I think it was implied) and the ones that he did, he failed. Across the board, according to Iruka. So he would have been a really hard sensei. So how would he 'have a nose for those types' if he flunks every student he's ever had? 

 

And what a negligent thing to say about the son of the last Hokage and Kakashi's sensei! It was an opportunity to shed light on Kakashi's background, or to leave a clue as to Naruto's heritage for readers to go back and find later on, but it was wasted. 

 

Kakashi showed favoritism toward Sasuke, neglected Naruto and ignored Sakura. He was snappish toward Iruka and competitive with Jiraiya and the rest of the teams. Part-1 Kakashi definitely had a chip on his shoulder and was a terrible teacher. 

 

Wouldn't it have been great if we were given a reason at the beginning as to why he was distant, refused to engage, was hard on his students and yet still competitive with the other shinobi of the same positions. Then his character evolution would have moved hand-in-hand with Team 7's. As their bond grew, he would open up more about his old grievances and slowly let them go to become the great teacher and friend he is at the end. 

 

Instead, what little evolution he has through the series aren't overt or intentional. As readers, we can't go back and pinpoint changes in his storyline and say 'yes! his character is evolving!' It just doesn't happen. This would be especially important because now at the end Kakashi is sitting in the Hokage seat, something he never indicated he was interested in at all. While it's clear it's because of Obito's dream, it would have been great for this little kernel to be woven into Kakashi's storyline instead of his knack for always being late and that anyone who abandons his friends is trash. That's Obito's legacy through him, not becoming Hokage. And the one who was supposed to be Hokage, this point is driven home again and again, is given the shaft for no reason at all. 

 

Kakashi is a great character, with an awesome backstory that turns out to be really integral to the plot. It's too bad it was handled so poorly that we're left at the going 'wtf just happened?'

 

I've posted this before, but part of my annoyance towards Kakashi stems from the overall treatment Naruto received from important people in his life. Why was his heritage denied him? I honestly can't remember if an answer is ever given as I can't help but think fanon justifications have clouded my memory. The fanon excuse is always "You'd be a target," but I don't entirely buy that. And then, after Naruto meets his father in the Pein Arc, Kakashi makes what I read as a flippant comment and then never has to own up to why he neglected his sensei's son so much.

 

You're right, Tricksie. Kakashi is a fascinating character. But as is increasingly clear, Kishi wasn't able to properly do his narrative justice.

The fight sure, but I don't believe this short, I don't believe this path (Hokage title), and I don't believe the very outcome (both win in a sense). Not to mention the battle it out, I don't buy it as well. Too DBZ. Look back at part 1, it felt ninja vs. ninja. Skills and genius at its grand.

There was some decent hand to hand combat at one point in the fight but it could have gone on a lot longer I think. Everything just seemed so rushed with the fight and this ending that I don't think any author would want to end their 15 year series this way.

That happened in one chapter. Just one. Which is the best one out of the five. That's the problem.

Still doesn't mean Kakashi couldn't have done more right by Naruto, like actually being impressed with his ingenuity during the Chunin Exams vs. Kiba and all that, as well as not trying to mold Naruto to be like him at times.

Kakashi(read kishimoto) should give them basic thing about element in part 1. Show what is naruto and sakura element, but only develop sasuke because sasuke is the only one who is capable to learn it in a month.

I think I'm gonna stay away from naruto stuff on deviantart from now on, too many nh tards on there that want to rub the ending in peoples' faces acting like only ns fans are upset with the ending, ugh

That bad huh? I don't go on any other Naruto related sites except this one, so I've never really interacted with the NH/SS fandom, but I don't know why they can't just leave NS fans alone. If NS had become canon I can guarentee that the most of us wouldn't care what the NH/SS fandom thinks and just be happy that Naruto and Sakura got the ending they deserved.

Funny, because he even taught Sasuke, how to increase his speed and use sharingan. And being genjutsu master - didn't do thing to Sakura's skills.

Funny that in the movie they say Sakura is resistent to genjutsu, but not the genjutsu she was subjected to by Sasuke where it looked like he was brutally murdering her? It's like Sakura's abilities only work when the plot says so.

the thing I hate is how much they're ruining the deviantart environment, stealing people's art to make their anti posts, constantly mocking fans in those anti "art" posts, hiding comments they don't like even when its someone just having a polite conversation on the page, blocking people for even disagreeing with them, etc, it drives me nuts, its what drove me off deviantart.... seriously they're ruining deviantart for people and no one's doing anything about it

I don't have any problem with dbz fight like energy attack vs energy attack, as long as they don't destroy moon which ironically they are capable to do that.
But I do have problem when the final fight only goes 5 chapter including talking. This final battle, kishi and you spent 400 chapter to hype it and this is what we got? As a shonen battle manga fan, I dissapoint with you.

Yeah...it sucks. The Naruto fandom is one of the worst to be a part of, with this place being one of the few exceptions, and the ending only made things worse. I'm hoping one day all that BS will stop, but it seems like that will be a long ways off from happening.

All epic battles after Pein's battle was kinda skipped or stopped by something. Madara who was hyped as WTFTHISGUYMONSTER even without his eyes. First he was pwning all asses on battlefield, but then he became jinchuriki and started catching every punch he could. I don't know what Kishimoto meant by "I don't know how to finish Madara", because Sasuke and Naruto perfectly keeped upper hand against him, it's not even Kakashi and Sakura being in fight too. So... lame Kaguya is lame, and all final fight - too.

Sakura doesn't has sharingan. Genjutsu is privilege to sharingan user. And it will make sakura useful and powerful.

In part 1 only sasuke, shino, shikamaru, and sakura herself who has the ability to cancel genjutsu. Give genjutsu to sakura will make her really powerful. I mean why the kitten kabuto, kurenai, and c could only perform genjutsu once? While sharingan user do it on daily basis.

I wouldn't say I do but the series was once build on physical slow and thoughtful fights. That's what we didn't get. That's what made Naruto popular. But it lost that because they believed it can be more with DBZ style. The movie, my god, it's pure DBZ. I mean it.

I want to know that too.
Kishi could separate rinnnegan madara with bijuu chakra and he's still capable to give a fight and reclaim the bijuu again while naruto and sasuke fight in order for madara to not absorb bijuu again.

Instead we got cheap shot named kaguya.

Literally TenTen could call names of biju with Naruto's help, and it would seal them in that Rikudou's weapon, or even Naruto himself, so that would separete biju's and weak Madara.

Kurenai was expert in genjutsu without sharingan, it's a shame that it's was sided only as Uchiha's abillity.
