@ultranx:

You can't really compare this to the RtN fiasco. Sasuke and Hinata were alternate versions so whatever happened with them was supposed to be taken with a grain of salt. It literally wasn't their real selves. Sure there was ship-teasing and a lot of trolling, but in the end The Last is canon, in fact one of the last stories even, and RtN was not. Of course people are going to be worried and panicked, especially if all we're seeing is just Hinata and NH with barely any Sakura or NS so far. It may be misleading. It may not. You should understand what the other people are coming from as well you know.

Of course, I'm one of those people on the fence and saying don't jump to conclusions until we see everything ourselves, but people have a right to be worried or disappointed. I am too honestly, even if I'm not declaring NH canon or NS dead.

But here's why RtN is comparable: Kishi was also involved in it, so his desires/wishes for the series are quite visible.

Pass me some bleach so I can forget I ever saw that movie.

I really hate romcoms, despite liking romance. They're just so poorly written!

Oh, did anyone notice in the heat of all this panic that Sasuke deactivated his Rinnegan? Thank you, God!

I'm happy there are so much of us.

Thing are looking pretty good for us in the manga, no need to freak out...

Honestly, I think people just need to wait some more and see what happens in the manga. We need more context!

Sai/Saku won't work. A boyfriend can't nickname his girlfriend "ugly"

Still, he understands her well enough and has become close enough to her, so that it's a possibility.

So did I, as soon as that poster with Naruto's back was released...

Everyone is seriously jumping to conclusions, here! We haven't even gotten to the end of the manga to have a proper context for everything, yet! Can we all just wait until next week, before we actually start legitimately trying to make sense out of everything?

Naruto and Hinata have a flashback together. They are literally going to throw all NH development into the movie and that is it.

But, on that note, there are many more flashback-worthy moments between Naruto and Sakura, especially because they were on Team 7 together and had to experience a big heartbreak together, as well.

I'm not saying that what you've said is impossible, but there's also that...

Given the context so far it seems that Naruto is indeed telling that to Hinata.

Possibly, but what could he possibly have to say to her? I really do think NS will be canon, though...

#619521 Chapter 698

Posted by TheQueenB on 30 October 2014 - 10:05 AM

so the chance for a ns ending like the ova is far gone..i cant see it happening with sasuke in the picture, not with both of them in this condition ...and considering a few chapters ago sakura just cried for sasuke and told him she loves him while completely ignoring naruto,i cant see anything good comming for ns..i dont want to be pessimistic but im not the one to be in denial either...sasuke will probably apologize to sakura and everything, this is is very expected to be honest and who knows how sakura will interpret and react...the quote kishi threw ''you dont need a reason to love'' gives ample space for trolling and to make delusional and ilogical pairing like sasusaku to happen..and i cant see naruto confess either..just when he saw 4 chapters ago that sakura still doesnt feel anything for him,and his best friend aka sakura's love interest is on the verge of dying, naruto is just too selfless to confess ..the timing is bad and its not in his nature..the same way he didnt intervene when sakura hugged sasuke in the hospital scene...at this point i think naruto is fully convinced sakura is still head over heel for sasuke...i see naruto as a martyr in this circumstances and i feel so bad for him..for hinata as well cause she will be like a silver medal...a subjugated silver medal who will forever live in naruto's shadow

While I agree that some things can be iffy and that it's generally a good idea to be open to the different possibilities that exist, I think it's important to look at the big picture of the story. Naruto told Sai that he intends to confess to Sakura, once everything with Sasuke has been sorted out, and, despite her effectively having released him from the promise of a lifetime, something exclusively between them, Naruto still holds it near and dear to his heart and wants to do right by her. He takes his end of the bargain seriously, so he won't give up. And, now that Sasuke has effectively been rescued, he'll definitely have the chance to confess to her, even if this doesn't provide the correct setting for it. Anyway, they're only 17-years-old; there's more than enough time for confessing and realizing a relationship to take place.

Furthermore, take Sakura's reactions/feelings during this arc into account; she doesn't trust Sasuke anymore, and while Sasuke has been impacted by Naruto's words throughout this arc, not just in this current chapter, he doesn't show an extreme concern for Sakura. He gives her credit, where credit is due, but, otherwise, she's just there, and he couldn't care less. Plus, during this arc, Naruto has clearly been on Sakura's mind more prominently; a notable example of this is the CPR. Funny thing is that she could infer that Sasuke, who's fighting along Naruto, could also be in danger, but not once did he cross her mind. She only thought about Naruto and his stupid dream, which is quite beautiful. There are many other small moments like these that also count.

Finally, just because Sasuke has opened up to Naruto, it doesn't mean everything has changed. Only Naruto has been able to get through to him, and this chapter only emphasizes their bonds and how they've affected each other. There's no mention in a general shift in his attitude toward every little thing, including romance. He's not going to magically start loving her. He's a straightforward guy who doesn't mince his words. If there were any signs of interest on his part, they would've been expressed, especially in this chapter when he was finally able to let his guard down. Yes, Sasuke was fortunately saved from the darkness and went back to his good old self, which I'll always love, but this change doesn't have to be 180 degree change in all aspects, you know?

Now, with that having been said, we have all this development and subtleties in the actions of these characters that show something favorable for NS, but it doesn't mean that we have to entirely rule out other possibilities, until the story actually ends. However, given Sasuke and Naruto's bond and how Naruto feels about Sakura, we have a template for what a deep, meaningful relationship is like for them, and, honestly, SasuSaku and NaruHina do not even compare to what we've seen in either context. I don't mean to hate on them, but, when this chapter and other developments that have taken place throughout the course of the story act as a standard for comparison, the differential seems even larger now.

Be cautiously optimistic, but don't lose faith! :D

#617967 Naruto 698 Spoilers

Posted by TheQueenB on 29 October 2014 - 09:38 AM

Sakura's reaction : Now Sasuke kun won't be able to escape me anymore.   I'm sorry Naruto, I'll let you die here so I can steal your BF and the hokage title. :hehehe: :kukuku:

I'm sorry, but I'm really being serious about this, though. If they arrive next chapter, which I guess is possible, I don't even want to imagine how distraught they'll be over seeing...what happened. It's going to be heartbreaking.

I don't care what anyone says, they've both been badly damaged, especially during this arc, and I really hate seeing another bit of suffering being added to what they've already experienced. Yeah, it appears like a sweet moment that finally gives them the closure that they need, but this is just too much.

I'm going to bed.
