Dude it's so sad what this manga became in the end. I'm still rereading it for nostalgia and I ask myself...what happened to the naruto that was willing to kill gaara if it meant protecting the people precious to him and that he loved? (A word that he actually uses here...)

Well it's like Orochimaru said to Kakashi: What you do and what you say is off =/. How true that turned out to be. Granted, he was talking about Kakashi's seal for the curse seal but...still. That sad part about this too, as well, is that Kakashi's lessons did work out well in the beginning, like with the Naruto vs Kiba fight, but...

God speaking of new fics I'm really in need of some suggestions cus a lot of the fics I've already read/haven't been updated in years :( sigh 

I don't mind tropes since they're kind of hard to avoid most of the time (if not always). It all depends on how they are used in the story, tbh.

It's mostly Sakura-centric though, seeing that the idea was born after years of frustration over Sakura's character development, but it will have NaruSaku because I'm trash for those two. Enjoy!

Hunter X Hunter has an art style that never really grew on me so I don't even have the capacity to like it for anything else because I can't stand trying to read it or watch it

Woah whoever that is, I really like that I, essentially, found myself agreeing with her and how analytical she is. There's another video by the same person that I think touches upon the major problem with the narusasu relationship (mainly after 3:55). Tell me what you think about that :)

I feel like it would have been better if, instead of this forced brotherly relationship between the two, that it was established at the start that Naruto refuses to give up on Sasuke because he feels some sort of personal responsibility towards him, such as the whole "I can't see myself being Hokage if I can't save my teammate". This message honestly would have worked if it was never about keeping Sakura's promise (which, to me, it was mainly about after Naruto failed the first time). Rather, as one possible way to work in this message, Naruto could have reflected on the fact Sasuke practically almost sacrificed his life in order to save his in the Land of Waves Arc. So, because of that, he feels some type of personal responsibility towards saving him, even if that means not accomplishing his dream of being Hokage (in the same way that, if Sasuke had died at that time, he would not be able to restore his clan's name). 

Eh, with 699 as it is, which is the only chapter post promise fulfilled, and fading crush and the like, I just don't see the need for the panels for it. Right after Sasuke's forehead poke we can already predict how it would go.

 

I get the need for satisfaction, I suppose, if that's the argument. 

Except it's not about satisfaction...the moment was given emphasis. Therefore, I expect a resolution, or else it just seems like poor writing on Kishi's part especially since the reasoning for that resolution not happening is not good enough. You not seeing a need is a very subjective view, not objective. Objectively, you don't leave holes like that in the story (and this isn't the only one....). 

 
 
In fairness, no, a child going through issues of her own was not there for Naruto at that time, but then neither was anyone else. The actual argument is that she was one of the first to acknowledge and see him true.
 
I never get the point of these posts. 

there's a huge difference between being the first to notice someone (especially when you don't actively do something to support that individual at the time) and always having been there for them....

Oh god what drk said got me thinking back to the first time Sakura was introduced. In the anime after she says she should try being nicer to naruto there's a scene that happens that makes her seem like such a fake kitten. But you know what's funny? That scene never happened in the Manga and her words end up coming across more genuine and kind. God I'm so glad I dropped the anime as soon as I picked up the Manga.

Naruto is full of great ideas and creative wonder. While its a shame not all of these ideas get expanded on due to constraints, they make great enrichment to work with. 

Lol...I'm sure he's not the only one who thinks this way. While I didn't agree with everything he said I can understand where he's coming from at least. It does seem kind of strange that all of the countries, for instance, seemed to be okay with the whole "sending my kid into an academy to learn how to fight others" deal. Every single village, even in the present times it's still happening. 

 

You should try not to shut down people so quickly...it's honestly shocking coming from you. And I don't know if it's out of frustration or not but it's pretty beneath you from what I've seen.

I'm getting really sick and tired of people being told that they can only have one particular view of something (and both sides are usually guilty I'm not picking on a particular one). Like, not everyone's going to like the direction that the show has taken, and it just so happens that that's how the majority feel here. Just accept that jfc 

I'm pretty sure the op said this was not a debate thread....

What I'm curious about, and will always be curious about is: 

1. Sakura's thoughts during the matter. We got to see into Naruto's and Kiba's, but not really what she was thinking. In fact, all we really got was other's opinions about the whole thing. 

2. How she brought it up to Naruto, to begin with. Like...did she just say it as soon as he got down? It may not be significant but....I've always thought that if she was trying to trick him it would have been better to take him aside first?
