Actually, when I saw it, it made me think of Sasuke's "Team 7 is my family" from the previous chapter.   He was acknowloding Sakura's affection for him for the first time, but recognizing it for what it really is - a sisterly love, a remnant of a childhood crush.  He doesn't hate her, but he can't love her the way she wants.

That's why I wanted to vomit even more in chapter 700! 

Man it's so easy to redo this entire epilogue in an palatable way, even on an shipping free ending. What I would do in the Sasuke leaves ending:

In this version both Naruto and Sakura are there with Sasuke when he is about to leave. Kakashi just about does the same speech, and before departing Naruto asks Sasuke to reconsider and stay, so they can try to be friends once again, but before he can finish Sasuke pokes Naruto in the forehead with an smile. Sasuke says that this is his choice and Naruto can honor their friendship by respecting it. Naruto accepts it and Sasuke departs. Sakura conforts Naruto saying that it's for the best and they walk away together. Mean while Taka is waiting outside of Konoha gate, and Sasuke wonders why they are there, and then they say Sasuke can't get rid of them so easily, and that in whatever journey he goes, they want to follow. Sasuke just smirks and keeps walking, saying they better keep their pace if they really want to tag along, much to the team delight, as the entire crew walks off in the sunset.

Yeah... that's exactly how I feel about Ichiruki and Ichihime too. I don't even mind which one would become canon because both girls developed with the main character, but NH/SS? Pity ending. If this happened to NS I'd be LIVID.

Same. I ship Ichigo and Orihime, but if he ends with Rukia, I will accept it, since their relationship is developed enough for it to happen in an convincing way. But this... It's like an giant mind ****.

Kishimoto writing has been trash ever since the end of the pain arc. After that the plot became an umbeliavable mess. The only saving grace was the oddly good romance that was done in an different way then normal. Once that was crushed too there was nothing good left to salvage.

Sigh, I admit I'm on the verge of quitting the manga. Kishi just doen't know when to quit.

There was once upon an time when wednesday would come and I would be all exited about an new Naruto chapter. Now I just wonder to myself: "what this mess is all about this week?"

Meh. At first, when Obito was trying to strangle Naruto, I was like: "F*** yeah! Someone that doesn't fall for the lame talk no jutsu for once!" but then an even worse session of TnJ started right after. Why can't an villain be defeated without redemption? 

Kishimoto might as well start adding buttlerflies and rainbows everywere. This series is just ridiculous at this point.

The sad thing is that this arc will still drag thanks to Madara and Sasuke. This war is starting to feel like an never ending story.
