Wait, are they serious?!

TV Tokyo distributed Pokemon, how the hell they thought Naruto/Boruto would beat Pokemon when that is their best-selling franchise of all time?! Someone must be drinking some sort of Kool-Aid over there.

#986648 The NEW NaruSaku Debate Thread

Posted by Derock on 11 March 2022 - 06:19 AM

Actually, girls like Hinata DO exist but Hinata as a character is ONE-DIMENSIONAL. Sakura is shown throughout the series with multiple expressions and emotions. Majority of Hinata's character is stuck being this shy flower and her moments where she is anything but are so few. However, majority of women today are like Sakura (rather they like or not)

Yeah girls like Hinata do actually exist in real life. Whether they will be completely subservient and never say no to their partner or put up with any Bull kitten like Hinata’s fans expect of her is a different matter, and like I said a relationship with either the man or woman having Hinata’s personality type won’t last and one side or the other will leave it usually. The only type of person that will keep such a partner is a narcissist.

Agreed. Would you rather want a person who is one-dimensional or someone that has character and flaws (although I think Sakura gets tons of flak because of her flaws and fans criticize her badly because of those said flaws)? People need to understand, NO ONE is perfect. Otherwise, we would've had some Mary-Sue/Gary-Stu type characters in the story (although some fans tend to think that there are some).

We couldn't even get an arc dedicated to the Uzumaki clan, so it's not a surprise we got nothing on the Jashin religious cult either. The series ended up being wide as an ocean and as deep as a puddle.

That was the biggest tip of the iceberg as it went straight to Sasuke with those damned masks! Not only the Itachi/Sasuke vs. Kabuto fight annoyed me but Sasuke founding the Uzumaki masks, Orochimaru's revival and Tobirama's statement about the Uchiha's curse made me furious to the bone.

Kakuzu and Hidan were really the last of the actual plain villains in Naruto to me. Kakuzu just doing what he does for money and Hidan for his Jashin religion, but neither having any sort of tragic past to be exploited and them simply being killed rather than redeemed.

Still angry at Masashi for not expanding the Jashin religion cult. It would've brought some interesting plots and conflicts. Not to mention the Wood Ninjas Danzo defeated when heading to the Iron Summit.

What was the stunt with Road of Ninja?

The possible rumor that someone or some people at SP was complaining about the movie because Masashi kept changing/going back and forth with the ideas, despite the fact he's the creative consultant (not to mention owner of the franchise!)

It seemed like it was the anime vs. the manga for me. If you watched the anime only, then it was all Hinata, all the time. Naruto had an unrequited crush on Sakura, and she was always mean to him, picking Sasuke over him. Even when Sasuke was gone. And then again...Hinata.....

But if you read the manga, then it was like you got an entirely different story.

They may have both been Naruto branded, but only one of them Kishi wrote. The anime went off on its own time and time again. Those creators shipped NH, and so they frothed up a legion of fans who wanted the same thing.

It's not like we were all reading the same thing and came out with a very different response/viewpoint. One group is reading, another group is primarily watching, and believes that to be the canon source.

You can't read the manga and come away with 'Hinata is our queen.' She simply not in there enough! lol

I think some of the fan issues stem from the fact that you had two very different Naruto stories out there in the world, running at the same time. One of them pushed for a different ending. And they got it!

You know what? I'm actually see that.

Over the years, I thought that certain scenes were remade because artists couldn't get the angle right or provide better flow.

In here, there were too many stuff that were deleted or misinterpreted. Biggest example was the events after the hospital fight scene with Naruto and Sasuke.

Manga: Sakura was worried so she and Naruto went out (almost like a date). They talked about Sasuke with his issue and Naruto reassures her that he would be okay. It was a little flashback while Sakura was looking out of her window which ended her smiling.

Anime: How cow, depression galore! Naruto was walking around town like a depressed zombie after the fight. He was about to walk pass Sakura, who was also depressed, so they eventually went out to Ichiraku together. Then when she was about to leave, Sakura was like a "deer seeing head lights" at the full moon, leading to her infamous confession scene with Sasuke.

You also can say the NaruSaku reunion in the beginning of Shippuden was changed too. It had similar dialogue but Tsunade wasn't there.

Not to mention, Part 1 had all of those fillers, that did not help Naruto and Sakura's (and Kakashi's too as he went missing in majority of them) development as main characters (except the first one) and focusing on unnecessary stuff (Hinata waterfall scene, the pointless comedic plotlines, certain character that need the spotlight were OOC). Hell, Part 2 made it worse after the Pain arc, adding more Part 1 flashbacks that wasn't even necessary.  It was a reason I stopped watching Shippuden because they added stupid stuff, like redoing Episode 3 of Team 7's formation. Really, it made Naruto worse than before.

And yeah, Hinata got fans because of those fillers writers made to get Naruto's attention to her. (Need I need to say more about that infamous episode of "Sailor" Hinata, her "gorgeous" animated hair, and that damn flashback that was reused for The Last?)

Viewers took it, thinking it is canon and the manga followed suit. On the other hand, Hinata isn't shown that much in the manga because she wasn't a major character to begin with and fans (and people at SP) were mad that Masashi did not do anything with her (duh, obviously!). Possibly because after the stunt with Road to Ninja, SP decided to take matters to their own hands, resulting the franchise's fate.

NS is just the surface of it, if there's a reboot I think there's more important things to fix. NS too don't get me wrong, but first of all characterization and world affairs.

Amen, along with serious world building to be done too besides what was shown to us.

There something else missing: NINJA action scenes! All this time after, I think the Pain Arc, everything was near DBZ-like fights.

I know what you mean, Derock. Honestly with Beauty and the Beast, I never FREAKIN' understood why people nowadays who are adults like many of us here are would think that Belle had Stockholm Syndrome. In both versions of Disney's spin of it, she wasn't like that at all. She just wanted to save her father Maurice, and even as Adam, when he was the Beast, tried to scare her just because he was so used to being alone because of the curse on him, she didn't show any fear. She got to see the real goodness in his heart over time, which is why too, with his feelings, he allowed her to go home when he revealed Maurice was really sick, even if he knew he may remain cursed forever. But the fact Belle came back to help him when Gaston wanted to kill Adam says a lot too.

EXACTLY!

People ignored the obvious on what was going on in Beauty and the Beast. She gotten her adventure (hell, she lampshade it during her song when talking to the sheep about her favorite book). Initially, she did not want to pull up with Beast/Adam because how cruel he treated her when they first met when trying to save Maurice. It took her curiosity to be the blame when she saw and touch the magical rose that Beast screamed at her because she went to the West Wing as he explicitly said "It's forbidden", when she asked him about the area. She left the castle, scared because how he roared at her and was then ambushed by the wolves in the blizzard,  and when Beast realized his mistake, he went out and rescued her. And don't forget about the aftermath, how the two bickered back and forth like they were a married couple!  :hehehe:  (The two are still one of my favorite Disney couples, it's one of the reason why Beauty and the Beast is #2 of my favorite Disney movies. Try to guess who's #1?)

While the scenes of their romance was rushed because 1) it was about a 90-minute movie (not to mention behind-the-scenes of time crunching and Howard Ashman's AIDS complications leading to his death), we can't determine how long Belle stayed, however because with the spin-offs, it sounded like she stayed in the castle more than a couple of months and 2) it was a goddamn kids movie. As I said before, we can't go too deep into it.

We saw Beast/Adam's development. But I couldn't understand the Stockholm Syndrome BS. I think people were favoring her for Gaston, despite his villain role.  :headscratch:

Not to mention those same people on the other side of things do that too with NH and make excuses for Naruto basically avoid his family too, when Hiruzen, even as a widower and the rough patches in his relationship with Asuma as well as Konohamaru to an extent, still made efforts to connect with them, while I see Naruto using work as an excuse because of how thi gx are with Hinata as well as his kids, contrary to what we're supposed to believe.

And we also te d to get too many stories try to push a thing with sexual preferences rather than m developing meaningful relationships because someone out there wants to push their agenda or to win brownie points with some group. Even old stuff from before our time can tell better, meaningful romances, like Disney's Cinderella, and how Cinderella fell for Prince Charming without knowing WHO he was at the ball before midnight came along, and how that played out to his finding her again.

People keep saying they want good stories in media, but sometimes when crap like this happens, and some people just expect others to be forcibly happy about it even when it sucks and yet we still try to accept but ignore it, it's kinda hard to believe that fact.

It's interesting you had mentioned old-school Disney classics like Cinderella, Byron.

Many have to understand that those are based on fairy tales books in which Walt acquired for his kids back in the day and transformed them into timeless animated classics. But we can't go into detail with them because they were basically children books (I'll take that back,  because not ALL were for children because some were inspired from Grimm Brothers' versions and let's not go to the original Little Mermaid storyline). Maybe using spin-offs and other materials such as live-action version of Cinderella (the one with Cate Blanchet played the stepmother) is better because we actually see the development of Kit (Charming) and Ella's (Cinderella) relationship in the movie.

It was the reason why I didn't enjoyed the Disney classics because they were just Walt's interpretations of the fairy tales. Snow White was VERY boring and rushed, in both movie and shipping.  Cinderella didn't do much beside wanting her wish come true (getting out of Lady Tremaine and her daughters' abuse and having a better life, though later materials redeemed Anastasia's character). Sleeping Beauty, despites its efforts, didn't do much (Aurora was panned by critics for her heroine status).  You can see why the Disney Renaissance (Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, etc.) worked much better in the romance and character development, for kids' point of view, NOT for adults. I still don't understand the reason of Belle's case when people went into detail of her development and relationship and resulted in Stockholm Syndrome.

Vegeta and bulma are a great couple and sasuke and sakura done right as bulma actually changed vegeta. another example is gajeel and levy from fairy tail look how they started and where they ended

Not initially at first. The only reason Bulma and Vegeta became canon was because to give a good legitimate reason for Trunks' existence.  Back then, DB fans didn't even care for Bulma X Vegeta.

And remember, these scenes are in a 'kids manga.' (Which, btw, is also a reason NS wasn't allowed to happen. 'Kids manga,' not about romance.)

:headscratch: That's a bunch of bull****! "Kids manga"?! Then explain how Dragon Ball did it with their successful pairings: Gohan X Videl and Krillin X Android 18 (I use them as examples because they were the ones that we saw the hints of these couples becoming canon).  NaruSaku shouldn't be the reason of being canon because of being a "kids manga". It would made more sense because, hello, we're following Naruto's "story" or lack thereof.

I swear, people are just..
